The Beguinage of Bruges - Unesco World Heritage

The Flemish beguinages can be compared with monasteries for women. However, in the beguinages the sisters (or beguines) never made vows for life. They were free to leave the beguinage again if they wanted to. However, most didn't.
The beguinage of Bruges is certainly the most beautiful example of its kind in Belgium.
