San Sebastian Festival

Aside from picturesque coastline that makes the place a popular beach resort, this place is also famous because of San Sebastian film festival. An annual FIAPF (Fedération International des Associations de Producteurs de Films, eng: International Federation of Film Producers Associations) which originated in 1953 and it held only in the city of San Sebastian. This festival is the most important Spanish speaking international film festival as well as in the whole continent.
 

Tourist, artist, directors, celebrities and political icons are gathering here to witness the festival. This year, the number of spectators reaches 117,654 compared to 176,525 last years. 99,236 tickets were sold compared to the 98,702 tickets sold last year. This activity gives the city more attractive to the tourist. 
 

Millions of tourist every year loves to witness the activity of the place and experience the nature of San Sebastian. Here are popular celebrations of the San Sebastian: 

  • San Sebastian Day – every year on January 20 (the feast of San Sebastian), the feast is also known as “tamborrada”.
  • Semana Grande / Aste Nagusia - ("Big/Main Week") held every year at mid August.
  • Basque week- taking place at the beginning of September features events related to Basque culture

 

The tourism in this place is well developing for the numbers of festival and the millions of visits every year.
